How Kreditspark Works

Kreditspark's hero product is Ajo — a rotating savings and credit club, reimagined mobile-first for Nigeria. This guide walks every feature in the order you'll actually meet it: what you can see before signing up, what happens when you register, and then each part of the product.

Guest experience

Everything you can do before creating an account

This isn't just a marketing shell — real product surfaces are open to the public, no login required.

Landing page & legal pages

The homepage shows the most recently completed Ajo "harvests" as social proof. Static pages cover fees, terms, privacy, and acceptable use.

Browse groups

At Browse groups, you can look through Ajo circles open for new members — filter by contribution amount, frequency, and how payout order is decided, and open a group's preview page to see its members, average rating, and organiser before you ever sign up.

Public profile cards

Every member has a shareable profile showing their KYC tier, trust score, badges, and endorsement counts — enough to size up a stranger before joining their circle, without exposing anything private.

Claiming a giveaway or a money gift

Giveaway and "water gift" claim links are fully public pages. Open one and see what's waiting for you; claiming it walks you through a quick sign-up first, then automatically finishes the claim — nothing is lost by having to register mid-claim.

Account & sign-in

Registration, first-run onboarding, login, and password recovery

Signing up

Registration asks for your name, email, and a strong password, plus acceptance of the terms. If you arrived via a friend's referral link, that's remembered automatically through sign-up.

Good to know: as soon as you sign up, you get a wallet (starting at zero) and a welcome message over WhatsApp and email. You can start looking around right away — verifying your identity comes a little later, whenever you're ready to join a circle or move money.

Referral codes

Every member gets a personal share link once they visit the referral page, so friends who sign up through it are linked back to you. Members approved into the Agent programme (see Referrals, agents & rewards) earn a share of the circles their link brings in.

First-run: "what brings you here?"

Right after email verification, new accounts land on a one-question intent picker: Start a group, Join a group, or Send someone money. Your answer routes you straight into the matching flow.

Logging in

Standard email + password, plus support for passkey login (device biometrics/Face ID) as a separate, usernameless entry point — handy if you've forgotten your password but have a passkey set up on your phone. Either way, a login triggers a WhatsApp "you just signed in" alert.

Signing in doesn't automatically clear you for sensitive actions like withdrawing money — those ask for a quick one-time re-check at the moment you do them (called step-up, see Identity verification), even within the same session. It's an extra few seconds that keeps your money safer.

Forgot password

Standard email reset link, same password strength rules as sign-up. If your account has passkeys registered, a successful reset routes you to your security settings afterward — a natural moment to review or revoke device passkeys.

Ajo circles

The hero product — a rotating savings and credit club

A group of members contribute a fixed amount on a schedule; each round, the pot goes to one member. A finished cycle is a harvest.

Life of a circle

recruiting → confirmed → locked → active → completed

cancelled can happen any time before completion — the organiser cancels before any payout, or a member-led dissolution vote passes.

Creating a group

A short wizard: basics (name, description, open vs. invite-only), rules (contribution amount, frequency, max members, grace period, late fine), how payout order will be decided, and an optional organiser fee. Free accounts are capped at one active group and 8 members; upgrading a plan lifts those caps (see Notifications & plans).

Joining a group

Via an invite link or the public marketplace. If the group requires approval, your request sits pending until the organiser approves it. A security deposit equal to one contribution is usually held as a show of good faith — refunded on a clean exit or when the circle completes.

How payout order is decided

Method How it works
ManualThe organiser assigns and can reorder seats by hand.
First-comeEarliest joiners get the earliest payout slots.
LotteryA verifiably fair shuffle — any member can independently confirm the draw wasn't rigged.
Pick-a-seatMembers claim an open round number themselves.
AuctionMembers bid for an earlier slot — highest bid wins the earliest turn.
Needs-basedMembers state why they need an early turn; the organiser ranks requests.
Sinking fundNo rotation — each member saves toward their own target month.

Paying in, and getting paid out

Each round, every contributing member pays their share — by wallet, saved card, or organiser-recorded cash. Once everyone has paid, the pot (minus fees) releases automatically to that round's recipient, and the next round opens. You can also set up auto-pay so your contribution is debited on payday.

Missing a payment

A short grace period applies before a missed contribution is marked late; after that, a daily fine accrues, and eventually it's marked defaulted. Defaulting before you've collected your payout can pause your membership for a cooling-off period; defaulting after you've already collected means you can't exit until it's settled.

Leaving a circle

Free and immediate within the first 48 hours, or any time before the group locks. After that you can still leave, but your deposit stays held until someone steps in to cover your remaining rounds. A freed seat goes to whoever's been waiting longest on the group's waitlist.

Group governance & social layer

  • Organiser-replacement vote — if an organiser goes quiet, members can vote in a replacement.
  • Dissolution vote — a two-thirds majority can end a group early and refund everyone.
  • Position swaps — two members can trade payout slots, subject to a brief organiser veto window.
  • Reviews & endorsements — after completion, members rate the organiser and each other, feeding your public trust score.

The ledger

Every member can see their own contribution and payout history. Organisers on the Business plan can export the full group ledger as a CSV.

Loans between members

P2P loans, only between members of the same Ajo circle

Kreditspark deliberately does not offer public loans. Lending only happens between members of the same Ajo circle — people who already trust each other.

A direct loan between two members

A lender sets an amount, an interest rate, and a repayment term, funds it from their wallet, and gets back a private, time-limited link to hand to the borrower they have in mind. Opening that link shows a clear cost-of-credit breakdown before anything is accepted.

pending → accepted → processing → completed

Accepting instantly credits the loan into the borrower's wallet. You can only carry one active loan at a time.

The loan board

Inside a circle, members can post "I want to borrow" or "I'll lend" listings with built-in messaging to negotiate terms before a loan is finalized. Listings expire automatically after a week if nothing comes of them.

Guarantors

You can ask a fellow group member to vouch for you. Rather than tying to one loan, a portion of a lower-trust member's Ajo payout is held back for a couple of rounds as a safety margin.

Extensions

Need more time? You can request one extension (up to 30 days) per loan.

If a repayment is missed

The schedule is progressive: a reminder a few days late, an automatic wallet debit attempt about a week late, and a formal default two weeks out (which affects your trust score), escalating to the group's organiser if it drags on.

Wallet & payments

Funding contributions, receiving payouts, sending gifts

Adding money

Pay by card/bank through our payment gateway, or transfer directly into your personal dedicated bank account number, assigned once your BVN is verified. Minimum top-up is ₦100.

Taking money out

Withdrawals go to a bank account you've already added, and always require a quick re-confirmation at the moment of withdrawal — a login alone is never enough. If a withdrawal fails at the bank, the money is automatically credited straight back.

Daily withdrawal limit, by verification level

KYC tier Daily limit What's verified
Tier 0Withdrawals blockedNothing yet
Tier 1₦50,000 / dayBVN
Tier 2₦200,000 / dayBVN + NIN + selfie check
Tier 3Unlimited6 months of active, good-standing use at Tier 2 (automatic)

Adding a bank account

We resolve your account number live against your bank to confirm the account holder's name before saving it — withdrawals can't accidentally go out under a mismatched name.

Statement & history

A filterable ledger of every credit and debit lives under Wallet → Statement, with a downloadable receipt for any transaction. Full CSV export or emailed statements are a Business-plan feature.

Money that's temporarily on hold (escrow)

A few things put money on hold rather than moving it outright: your security deposit when joining a circle, a slice of a payout for a lower-trust member, and funds frozen against whichever side of a live financial dispute has been accused (see Disputes). Holds are always released by a specific event completing.

See the full fee schedule for exact rates.

Identity verification

BVN, NIN, and a biometric selfie unlock more of the product

Kreditspark can turn any of these checks on or off platform-wide, which is why the exact requirement you see can vary over time.

Tier 1 — BVN verified

Get a dedicated deposit account, join or create Ajo circles, withdraw up to ₦50,000/day.

Tier 2 — + NIN + selfie

Borrow or lend on the loan board, withdraw up to ₦200,000/day, fewer re-checks on future sensitive actions.

A phone number is verified separately by a WhatsApp one-time code.

Re-verifying for a sensitive action ("step-up")

Being logged in isn't enough to withdraw money, add a bank account, accept a loan, or hand over organiser rights — each asks for a fresh one-time confirmation: a WhatsApp code (valid 15 minutes), or for biometrically-verified members, a live selfie check (valid 30 minutes).

Referrals, agents & rewards

Ways to earn, get rewarded, or give to each other

The Agent programme

An "agent" is a member — usually someone who has already organised a few completed circles — approved to earn a small cut every time a round pays out in a group that joined through their personal referral link. Apply from the referral page; earnings are paid out monthly straight to your bank account.

Badges

Badges are earned automatically from your activity — and can be lost again if a streak breaks (one late payment can cost a "Reliable Contributor" badge).

Reliable Contributor2+ completed circles, zero late or defaulted payments
Trusted Lender / Borrower3+ completed P2P loans on that side
Veteran Organiser5+ circles completed as organiser
KYC VerifiedReached Tier 2 verification

Gift cards

Kreditspark-issued gift cards are distributed by our team. Redeem a code once for its full value straight into your wallet.

Giveaways

Fund a giveaway from your own wallet — split across several claimants or a single lucky winner — and share the claim link. Unclaimed value is automatically refunded to you once it expires.

Water gifts

Send someone ₦100–₦500,000 directly — to an existing member, or to a bare phone number if they're not on Kreditspark yet. Unclaimed gifts to a phone number are automatically returned to you after 30 days.

Notifications & plans

How you hear from us, and what upgrading unlocks

Notification preferences

You control three channels independently — in-app, WhatsApp, and push — per type of event. Urgent alerts always go out immediately; routine notifications are held back during your local night hours and delivered in the morning instead.

Plans

Plan Price Unlocks
Free₦01 active circle, up to 8 members
Pro₦2,500/moUnlimited circles & larger groups, auto-pay, every payout method
Business₦6,000/moEverything in Pro, plus CSV exports, priority disputes, API access

New accounts get a 30-day trial that behaves like Pro. See Pricing for full details.

Disputes

The safety net when something goes wrong between members

Any member can raise a dispute against another — a missed contribution, a withheld payout, misconduct, suspected fraud, and a few other categories — optionally naming an amount to freeze.

  • Fraud — the accused's account is frozen immediately and our team is alerted right away.
  • Misconduct — put straight to a vote among the group's other members.
  • Money-related — the disputed amount is frozen on the accused member's wallet, and both sides get 48 hours to submit evidence.
  • Everything else — reviewed directly by the Kreditspark team.

If neither side responds in time, the case resolves automatically in favor of whoever did respond. Business-plan disputes are fast-tracked ahead of the general queue.
